Hidden like a pearl in an oyster, Rum Bay Restaurant on Palm Island is known for its great food, affordable prices, casual atmosphere, and good times. Located on a private island in the world-famous tarpon fishing waters of Southwest Florida, just minutes from the Boca Grande Causeway, getting to Rum Bay Restaurant is part of the adventure. “It’s like taking a trip back in time to old Florida,” reveals Manager Ken Scott. “It’s a 15-minute ride via boat, water taxi, or car ferry.” Ken explains that in the short trip, nature often puts on a spectacular show. “I’ve seen bald eagles soar overhead; dolphins frolicking, mullet jumping, and pods of manatees emerging along the shore. It’s truly an awesome experience.”
Celebrating 25 years, Rum Bay patrons keep coming back for the restaurant’s award-winning Baby Back Ribs with homemade “swamp” sauce, according to Executive Chef Ryan Poston. “The ‘Beefster’ burger and Filet Mignon Oscar also are two tempting choices,” says Ryan. “Seafood lovers will enjoy our Sashimi Tuna or Shanghai Shrimp Salad.”
Ken adds that Chef Ryan’s Blackened Grouper, Island Baked Scallops, and Tempura Shrimp are excellent choices complemented with any beverage. “Choosing a drink from our extensive list is part of Rum Bay’s charm,” says Ken. “We have a full bar including a nice selection of wine, beer and tropical drinks including the Rum Bay Smash, our signature drink.”
“Few waterfront dining establishments can boast the amenities Rum Bay Restaurant patrons enjoy including affordable prices with dinner entrées ranging from $8.99 to $21.95,” shares Ken. “We are truly a family restaurant; we have live entertainment and everyone enjoys resident pirate Red Beard’s buccaneer tunes and tales of yore.”

While Rum Bay at Palm Island Resort is a fun place to relax and party, Ken says, “It’s also a great place to get some work done. We have complete meeting facilities and we can accommodate up to 150.” Ken adds, “There’s nothing like island dining. Whether it’s for a quick breakfast, mid-meeting breaks, lunch or dinner, our catering staff will meet your needs in a memorable fashion.”

Palm Island has been a favorite destination for the past 25 years, and now is the perfect time to discover Rum Bay Restaurant, where an old-Florida style culinary adventure awaits.
