Celebrating Children!

“All God’s children are our business,” is the theme at Lakeside Lutheran Preschool as children are celebrated each month of the year with a different topic to learn. The celebrating will crescendo this fall when the preschool honors 25 years of service and education for children and their families in Venice and the surrounding areas.
Established in September 1985, this beautiful facility and highly trained staff offer an educational experience in a secured environment for children ages 1 through 5. In addition, the school’s excellent teacher-to-student ratio and experienced instructors provide a nourishing culture where children are accepted and welcomed.

Lakeside Lutheran Preschool has been ranked as a four-star school, which means they consistently exemplify high quality in many areas. The title was bestowed on them by an outside agency, the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County, a member of the Look For The Stars organization, which is a nation-wide company that evaluates the quality of a school’s program.
The qualifications of the pre-school’s teachers encompass degrees in early childhood education, child development science, associate/bachelor of arts, and masters in education. Throughout the school year, the teaching staff assesses and evaluates each child and twice a year shares the information with parents or caregivers.
The preschool’s curriculum focuses on basic Christian principles such as having respect for others, honoring parents or guardians, and teaching life applications by example. Children are given the opportunity to attend the on-site chapel once a week where lessons are centered around The Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
In addition, Lakeside Lutheran Preschool offers before and after school services for children ages 5 through 11 who must be enrolled in Taylor Ranch Elementary School to be eligible for care at Lakeside. They also offer a program called Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK), which is available to any child in Florida who is age 4 by September 1st of a given school year. Parents or guardians can obtain a VPK certification for eligibility through the Early Learning Coalition. Lakeside Lutheran Preschool is the only facility in Venice that offers VPK throughout the summer months.
The preschool’s culture also encourages charitable giving. During the fall, the preschool gives back to the community by donating canned goods to a local food pantry. The Week of The Young Child is a special springtime event designated by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The students participate in extracurricular activities, which help send mission supplies to underprivileged children in the Dominican Republic, and assist in fundraising for various organizations, such as Shelter Box and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Striving to enhance the learning environment for all children, Lakeside Lutheran Preschool offers a bright and cheerful facility with a multi-faceted, steadfast support system. The longevity of the talented and willing staff is authentication of the commitment and service this preschool has to offer.
