Compassionate Care for Those in Need
Knowing that a dedicated, trained and friendly professional will be there to help during troubling times provides security and peace of mind to individuals and family members, as well as assistance to medical facilities. Assistance, provided by BrightStar of South Sarasota, can be implemented the same day or with 24-hour scheduling, part time or full time, and on a daily, weekly, or live-in basis, if requested. Owners of the BrightStar franchise, Chuck and Colette Russell, have seen the need for care in their own family since their adult children were recently diagnosed with a debilitating syndrome. The couple’s compassion for others and hope for their family’s welfare led them to investigate purchasing one of the 140 Bright-Star nationwide franchises.

Their 30-year background of owning a business that employed 150 workers has been a boon to their Venice Island company, which serves Sarasota County from Bee Ridge Road to north Charlotte County. BrightStar of South Sarasota is a recruiting and staffing agency that provides state certified, licensed and bonded medical personnel to area hospitals, assisted living facilities, hospices, and nursing care centers, according to Colette. From time to time, these organizations have a need for additional staff on a temporary basis, or some prefer to write a staffing contract directly with BrightStar to choose from their reserve of CNAs, MAs, RNs, LPNs OTs, and PTs. According to the couple’s son and Staffing Manager, Dante Russell, BrightStar’s continually growing family of employees must undergo a three-tier, stringent independent background search before he refers them to Lynn Clement, BrightStar’s Nurse Practitioner, who will conduct an interview and administer a drug test. The agency’s clinical employees must measure up to the highest caliber of standards before they are offered employment. Afterward, they attend an orientation and continue their education through online training. BrightStar of South Sarasota recently received its accreditation from The Joint Commission, an independent world leader whose standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry for evaluating the quality, safety and performance of healthcare organizations throughout the United States, according to Colette.

Another service BrightStar offers is that of providing CNA care to any age group, from pediatrics through geriatrics. Through BrightStar’s Guaranteed CompatibilitySM system, the client’s needs and personality are matched to the caregiver.
Companionship could be the catalyst that helps increase the quality of life for a lonely, elderly person. Caregivers can write letters, fill out forms, help with e-mail, and share in the things that bring happiness to their patient. The company also provides support for expectant mothers and newborns through their KidCare program by performing chores, such as laundry, grocery shopping, or cooking. If pets are part of the household, they will be cared for and fed. BrightStar’s interactive approach to matching caregivers with patients is innovative. “We won’t stop until both parties involved are happy – 100 percent satisfied,” says Colette. “Our mission is simple. At BrightStar of South Sarasota, we will do whatever is necessary to provide care for our patients. It’s all about them – 24/7!”
