Fun 'n the Sun

Let’s Party at the Beach!

Ready to party? Without a doubt, one of the best places to party
is the beach. Here in Venice, we have some of the best beaches
for fun and relaxation!

Although daytime beach parties are the most popular, the beach is an excellent location for evening parties. To avoid surprises, check with Sarasota County Parks and Recreation to get the scoop on regulations, laws and fees for use of any facilities.

Due to its informal nature, a beach party is very easy to organize. Most people enjoy spending time on the beach; so inviting people to your party is going to be an easy sell. For a spur of the moment beach party, make some phone calls, send out e-mails or post your invitations to your favorite social networking website.

If you plan your beach party in advance, you can get really creative with your invitations. For example, for a children’s party, you could combine a colorful pail with the invitation tucked in with some seashells and beach toys. Children or adults will enjoy the intrigue of a message tucked inside a bottle. If you’re computer savvy, there are many websites with ideas and pictures you can use to make elegant invitations for your beach party. Use your imagination and create the ideal invitation to suit your tastes and needs.

Even though the beach is great fun, it is not without its challenges. Sunburn and wind are almost inevitable parts of the beach party. Come prepared with SPF30 or higher sunscreen. For best results, apply it about 30 minutes prior to arriving at the beach and re-apply it every 30 minutes or as needed after swimming.

Cooking at the Beach

Having a meal prepared on a grill or a picnic spread at the beach is good as it gets, but for safety’s sake, do most of your food preparation at home. Follow the basic rule of keeping “cold food cold and hot food hot.” Bring plenty of water to avoid dehydration on the beach.

With a little planning, you can make your next day or evening at the beach a fabulous memory.
