Artist Nancy Colby is an accomplished artist in watercolors and acrylics and also teaches at the Venice Art Center and North Port Art Center, with students painting their choice of subject matter. The paintings we highlight in this issue are a collection of her former and present Christmas themes.

Over the last few years, her attention has been focused on her love of cats, the fabulous felines who have found a place in her heart as well as in her paintings. Cat lovers are drawn to the sensitive renderings of her personal brood, and she is often commissioned to immortalize clients’ feline family members in a soft, expressive style using watercolors. Awards abound, including being voted Best Pet Portrait Artist 2010 by Sarasota Pet magazine. Her work can be seen at Cat Depot and Persnickity Cat & Company in Sarasota or in her studio by request.
