BrendanatEaselOur featured artist, Brendan Coudal, chose not to pursue his childhood interest in art until he reached a turning point in his life – after the 9/11 tragedy. “It was a time when many of us re-examined our lives,” says Brendan. Shortly after, he used a paint set his father had given him to create his first watercolor beach scene. After studying with several well-known artists, Brendan chose to paint marine life that captured the excitement of sport fishing he gained through his expertise as an angler and charter captain.

Recently, Brendan changed course and introduced “new vintage” paintings, which focus on the mid-century style of the 50s; and, through his art, he pays homage to the great illustrators and artists of that period. His wife, Nicole, became his model and partner in their latest endeavor. “I hope my paintings bring a smile to your face!” Brendan remarks.
