Have you ever wanted to travel to Hawaii but never
had the opportunity? Why not design your own
vacation getaway? Creating a Hawaiian decorating
style in your home is easy. Here are some simple
tips to help get you started:
Painting walls white, or another bright color such
as yellow or blue, will keep the space feeling
open. Doorways and moldings should be a rich brown
like walnut or cherry. These will contrast nicely
against the bright walls and accent the room.
Once the walls are dry, you can decorate by
painting your favorite theme directly on them or
display vintage surfing posters.
Furnish with bamboo, wicker, and/or rattan. This
type of furniture can be painted or remain in its
natural state. Ceiling fans with blades shaped
like palm fronds can also add a nice touch in your
kitchen, dining room or lanai. |

Decorative touches can be as simple as adding a
large palm tree and sheer curtains. For the
bathroom, choose soap made with tropical essences
and set on a loofa along side an exotic flower.
Consider creating a theme for each room. Use
pineapple-themed designs for the kitchen, and
maybe palm trees or sailboats for the guest room.
For a teenager’s room, try surfboards or wave
designs and a grass skirt around the bed. In
addition, you can find your favorite theme on
towels, shower curtains, dishes, pillows,
comforters, nightlights, placemats and rugs.
The Hawaiian design is one of relaxation and
enjoyment, so have fun transforming your space.
What better way to relieve stress than by walking
through the doors of your very own Hawaiian
getaway.
